Guessticle
What is Guessticle?
Guessticle is a competitive, knockout-style Wordle game.
Each player starts by creating a 5-letter secret word from a randomly generated pool of selected letters.
Players then take turns submitting guesses, which reveal information about every player's word with Wordle-style color feedback.
Players are eliminated when another player successfully guesses their word. The last player standing wins.
Thoughts on gameplay
Guessticle is surprisingly deep, especially with multiple players in the mix.
Players must be careful not to give away information about their own words through their guesses. Also, like in other multiplayer strategy games (e.g. Settlers of Catan), players must be judicious about which players they are targeting.
Word selection adds fun texture to the game, too, and challenges players to come up with hard-to-guess words and consider their opponent's guessing strategy.
Why it's good
There are many Wordle variants, and Guessticle is the best multiplayer variant I've encountered. And I think this is great, because the vast majority of Wordle variants are simply too easy.
Many games in Guessticle feel like nail-biters, which is rare for experienced Wordle players.
Beyond the gameplay, I really appreciate the game's worn paper-y colors, calming aesthetic with lots of whitespace, and fun little touches like the simple in-game chat.
Games tend to be relatively short, making this a nice option to work into a group session.
This is a favorite in our gaming group, and I hope you enjoy it, too!
