What is The Wiki Game?

The Wiki Game is the best Wikiracing game available online.

In case you're unfamiliar with Wikiracing: it's a hyperlink navigation challenge where the objective is to get from one Wikipedia article to another as quickly as possible, using only article links.

The game is played in real time, and players compete to rack up the highest score possible by finding different, short paths to the target article as quickly as possible.

Thoughts on gameplay

The Wiki Game is about navigating Wikipedia articles quickly and with good judgment.

Sometimes the best moves are obvious, but often the optimal path requires thinking ahead about how concepts relate, and about how Wikipedia is structured.

What makes it fun

The Wiki Game is fun because there is a lot of tension to navigate simultaneously:

Should I search the current page for the best link, or make a move that gets me closer to the target page? Should I go narrower, or go broader? Should I go toward topic A, or topic B?

All the while, the clock ticks down.

The Wiki Game rewards speed, broad knowledge, good judgment, and familiarity with Wikipedia. It's one of my personal favorites.
