What is VoxGuess?

VoxGuess is a sound-based trivia game that tests your ability to identify languages.

There are single player and multiplayer modes, but the core game has the same premise: listen to a sentence in a non-English language, and guess the language from the available options.

Thoughts on gameplay

I love how the difficulty ramps up. Early rounds will have you distinguishing Japanese from Spanish, but later rounds will test you on Norwegian vs Danish. The game does a good job of remaining approachable for a bit, before becoming truly challenging.

The game also has a nice flow, at a few seconds per round, which make it a nice daily-play game for casual settings.

What makes it fun

The core premise is great – identifying languages is fun (and hard), and you can take different tacks to get the right answer: thinking about accents, trying to identify specific words and sounds, etc.

VoxGuess also has a pleasing, clean, and straightforward UX. It takes just a second to jump into a game and start playing, and accommodates both solo and multiplayer games nicely, too.
