Skribbl
What is Skribbl?
Skribbl is a browser-based adaptation of Pictionary, the classic drawing and guessing game.
Every round, one player does their best to speedily draw the secret clues while other players guess what they're drawing. Each correct guess nets points for both the drawer and guesser.
At the end of play, points are tallied and the player with the highest point total wins.
Thoughts on gameplay
Skribbl sits in the zone of action-casual; it's fast-paced and exciting, but the stakes are low and the rushed drawings, bad guesses, and overall chaotic nature of the game makes for a fun and silly gaming experience.
The default option for Skribbl is to join one of the public rooms, but if you're playing with friends, your best bet is to make your own room. Mileage may vary with public rooms (though they can be fun, too).
Why it's good
With a group, Skribbl rides the line between an action-packed competitive experience and a silly free-for-all with bad drawing and bad guesses, which is a great place to be.
Visually, Skribbl has a cute, vibey, hand-drawn aesthetic which I really appreciate.
Even if you've never played Pictionary before, it's super obvious how to play the game – which is a plus.
In general, I think drawing-based games like Skribbl and Gartic Phone are strong options for groups. It's fun to see everybody's drawing styles and creative interpretations, and the stakes are low enough that everybody can have a good time.
